TOP HIRE TIPS

Dealing with hundreds of hires on a day to day basis we have been able to identify some of the issues our customers face on site.

Take a look at our top hire tips to ensure your job runs smoothly from start to finish.

Don't assume or guess

There are thousands of different machines available to hire, all with different specifications and features. Our hire experts have the knowledge and experience to be able to recommend the right machine for the job, whether over the telephone or by conducting a free site survey.
‍It is more cost effective to hire the right machine for the job first time and not incur any additional transportation or hire costs.

Ensure machines keep their charge

Prior to your hire, your machine receives a full twelve hour charge. When machines are delivered to site, our drivers do their utmost to ensure they keep their charge.
The details of where and how to operate the isolator are found within the operators manual on every machine, located in the black documents box.
One of the methods used, as well as pushing the stop buttons in on the machine, is to ensure the isolator is disconnected. If this is not switched back on the machine will not start, which can then lead to potential breakdown call outs which could be chargeable.

Don’t lose the key

We receive regular calls from customers who have misplaced the key on site, which as well as leading to costly downtime, can lead to additional charges for a replacement key and carriage if necessary.
If multiple operators or teams are to use your hired MEWP, ensure that a plan is clearly communicated to all team members regarding the safe storage of the machine key.

Don’t confuse the hydraulic tank with the diesel tank

Our diesel machines run on diesel, and also use a red hydraulic liquid to lift and drive. If the operator is not paying attention they can inadvertently fill up the hydraulic tank with diesel. This causes major issues and damage to the machine which can then result in chargeable costs to put right.
Pay close attention to the operators manual and ensure all operatives are trained and familiarised with the machine they are using.

Ready for collection

Although your work on site may be complete, ensure your hired machine is left in a safe and accessible location, and is in a collectable condition i.e. charged and fuelled.
Ensure you do not incur additional transport costs from aborted collections, by not having it collection ready.

United Powered Access Expands into the North East with New Shildon Depot.

Warrington-based United Powered Access (UPA), part of the CA Group, is proud to announce the opening of its second depot, strategically located in Shildon, County Durham, to support growing demand across the North East of England.

In December 2021, UPA proudly gained IPAF Rental+ status, achieving silver standard on our first ever audit. UPA General Manager, Jason O’Brien commented, “Having set up our business in 2013 and expanding and developing over a number of years, we have always had a strong ethos on standards, service, safety, and making the right decisions for the long-term. This year it felt right to measure our UPA standards, against our industry benchmark.”

The first deliveries of our new machines are now starting to arrive, with a range of new electric scissors!

This includes our new LGMG Europe BV 1413 scissors, which increases our offering up to a 15.8m working height.

A great trip to visit Vertikal Days this week in Peterborough.

It was great to see first hand a variety of new machines, technical innovations and spend quality time with our suppliers, customers and industry peers.

We've taken our diesel scissor offering even higher this week, with the addition of our new Skyjack Inc. 9664 RT SCISSORS.

The first two have now arrived and are available to hire, with more due to arrive soon, and they have some great new features and specs including on board generators.

Another new addition to the UPA fleet with some fantastic features! We've already had great feedback from the first customer to hire and have more due for delivery soon.
